The Birth of Venus
Venus is the goddess of love, desire, and beauty. The Medici Family commissioned Sandro Botticelli to paint The Birth of Venus in 1482. His painting depicts the goddess, having emerged from the sea as a fully grown woman, arriving at the seashore. It became a symbol for the birth of love, spring, and spiritual beauty as a driving force of life.
Water is an element usually associated with girls and women as all life comes from water. The color blue, also associated with water, represents a malleable quality and can be used to show love, concern, and devotion.
